Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and cook until browned. Drain excess grease.

Add remaining ingredients to the cooked meat and mix well. Bring mixture to a boil.

Reduce heat and simmer for 30-40 minutes or until rice is cooked and most of the liquid has been absorbed.

Notes
- For additional flavor, replace the water with beef broth, or add one packet of dry beef gravy mix (1 oz)
- Additional water or beef broth may be added if the mixture becomes too dry before the rice finishes cooking
Dinner suggestion: to make a more complete meal, add frozen peas during the last few minutes of cooking
I’ve been using this exact recipe for years. The only thing I ever change is occasionally will either add a can or 2 of La Choy chop suey vegetables depending on the day. Other alternatives are adding a can of corn or frozen corn. Otherwise I have not changed a thing and always thought this tasted exactly like the old Hamburger helper. Brown the meat, add the seasoning and soup, add the soy, add the rice and dump the water in and bring to a boil and cover. I have been making this so long now I have the recipe memorized.
It was good maybe not as creamy for a lack of a better word as the Original Hamburger Helper but overall I was happy
