Place stew meat in a slow cooker (4 quart size recommended)
In a large bowl combine soup, gravy mix, beef broth, onion, and garlic. Whisk together until well blended. Ignore any lumps in the mixture; they will blend in during cooking.
Pour the soup mixture over the stew meat in the crock pot, and stir gently to combine.
Cook on Low for 7 hours. When finished, remove the meat from the slow cooker using a slotted spoon and set aside.
Set the slow cooker to High. Mix the cornstarch and water to form a slurry, then slowly mix into the liquid in the slow cooker. When combined, return the meat to the slow cooker and continue cooking for about 5 minutes or until the gravy has started to thicken.
