Delicious and filling - everything you love about a meatball sub!

Adapted from The Country Cook

Ingredients
  • 1 Italian bread loaf, cut into 1 inch thick slices
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 2 cups shredded Mozzarella cheese, divided
  • 1 bag frozen cooked meatballs, thawed (32 oz)
  • 1 jar marinara sauce (24 oz)
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 350 F.

  2. Arrange bread slices in a single layer in the bottom of an ungreased 9 x 13 casserole dish, filling in any gaps with pieces of bread.

  3. In a small bowl add cream cheese, mayonnaise, Italian seasoning, and pepper. Mix until well combined.

  4. Spread cream cheese mixture evenly over the bread in the casserole dish. Sprinkle evenly with 1/2 cup of shredded cheese.

  5. In a large bowl, gently combine the meatballs and sauce to prevent the meatballs from breaking.

  6. Spoon the meatball mixture into the casserole dish, spreading evenly. Top with remaining shredded cheese.

  7. Bake uncovered for 30-35 minutes or until bubbly.
